One of our assignments this week is to start playing with themes and plugins on here. After doing a lot of searching on the themes on WordPress and Googling themes for WordPress I was sorely disappointed. I’d find a couple themes that I liked for the most part but most of them just weren’t customizable enough for me. I want to play around and experiment with things and most of these themes only allow you to play with one or two things without digging into the html (which I’m pretty rusty on).

After much searching I found a great website that allows you to create your own theme and download the .zip file to upload to WordPress. I experimented a lot and worked with Picnik to create my own banner to go on my page and I think I’ve come up with something I’m happy with for the most part. Of course I’ll keep playing with things and adding more, but I finally have the basic layout of my website and I’m quite pleased.

I highly recommend you guys check out those websites and give them a shot. Picnik is great because it lets you do some pretty cool photo editing even without paying (of course paid members get more tools to use).
