Fredericksburg 2012

I told the story of the 2012 apocalypse via the weatherchannel.com . Set in Fredericksburg, the weather channel predicts the final three days of Earth.

I had a lot of fun with this assignment. The most frustrating part was trying to edit the map at the bottom of the page. The map is actually a series of roughly 15 layered images. I didn’t really know how to cut and edit it so I just superimposed a satellite image of a hurricane over the final weather channel map. I also had my own near disaster (luckily not as devastating as a hurricane or tornado). I was having difficulty saving the code and the screen image. I copied the html and pasted it into text edit, but when i tried to open it in firefox it only loaded as the code, not the webpage. I also had the common problem of not being able to save the screengrab. I tried to save the screengrab one last time as my computer literally was falling off my lap. I clicked save then accidently clicked a link on the webpage as i caught my computer – taking me to a new page and losing all of my edits. Thankfully, that last second save attempt was a success and I can now share the weather forecast for the apocalypse with you.
