Choosing my weapon

Well, here it is. The obligatory post about a text editor. If you’re wondering at all why I’ve posted the past few entries, please do refer to the links I’ve posted. That should clear you right up.

Coming from Linux (and a really, really pretentious trip down broken-computing lane that was), I learned a few different text editors. I love, love love vim. vim is brilliant. Once you figure everything out, you wonder why you ever used arrow keys. To this day I can’t use arrow keys to navigate text without getting frustrated.

But here’s the thing: since I bought Archimedes, I’ve been looking for more Mac-native applications to replace what I’ve gotten used to on Linux. There are Ramifications to this. I realize I’m basically just substituting one set of programs (more or less) exclusive to one OS with another set (more or less) exclusive to another OS. I don’t think I’m going back to Linux – at least not on the desktop – and I can almost guarantee I won’t switch to Windows. So I want to plumb the depths of what the Mac has to offer. Hence TextWrangler. It seems to be working pretty well for me so far. More as it develops. Or not, probably.
