Infographic Critique

For the group 8 infographic analysis assignment, me and Yue chose this Lab42 Twitter usage trends infographic.

As far as the accuracy of the data is concerned, Lab42 didn’t include exactly where it got its data from, but simply leaves an e-mail address which allows someone to query where the numbers came from. This in itself makes the infographic sort of dubious since the data is based off of private data that’s not publicly accessible. Though on the other hand, Lab42 doesn’t have much incentive to lie about their data, since potential clients who might use their services might cross-check the data with other public information about Twitter demographics and trends before handing their money over to Lab42.

As far as the visual quality of the graphic is concerned, I thought it was well done. Everything is spaced well, and the Twitter style used makes the data appear to be directly from Twitter (which may be a bad thing ultimately, and possibly indicated the intention of Lab42 to deceive their viewers).
