Radio Show Update

For the radio show project for ds106, my group members– Margaret, Emily, Candice and myself– decided to formulate our show around the concept of ” the University of Mary Washington through the ages.” We’re going to talk about the university as it has evolved over the years. As a bonus, we’re hoping to interview (at least via email because of the time crunch) the first African American student as well as the first male student. I have high hopes for our show, I think it will be quite compelling. One minor setback is that I absolutely HATE hearing myself speak. I suppose this will be a good opportunity to overcome this.

During class on Tuesday (2-28) my radio group “Eagle Radio” worked as hard as we could to get the first 5 minutes of the show recorded, in addition to a bumper and a commercial. During the class period we successfully recorded about 5 minutes of interview. After class we put down the bumper. We’ve decided to record everything straight to Audacity, a sound manipulating software– it’s kind of like photoshop for sound. I haven’t really sat down to tinker with it yet, but so far it has proven quite useful.

We have plans to meet late tonight to get some editting and recording done. Unfortunately with so little time and very busy schedules, we’re struggling to find time to meet and complete this thing before spring break rolls around. I personally don’t want to have to work on this over break, considering that I have 20 pages to write by the time I get back–whoops. It will get done, that’s all that matters, not to mention it has the potential to kick butt.

That’s all for now, stay dry!
