So one of my friends just invited me to join this awesome group on Facebook called “Hello, Gorgeous“. The main goal of this group is to stand up for what is “beautiful”. But what exactly is beautiful anyways? ”Beauty is in the eye of the beholder” is a saying I am sure we are all familiar with. That is a statement I believe in and hope that others do too. The main problem is that there is a stereotypical archetype of what beauty is and we do not allow anything that is different from that image to be beautiful. Who has the power to determine what has the right to be valued and what does not? There is beauty in all places and it takes a special person to search it out.
On the page for this group, it says: “Ultimately, our mission is to show the world that beauty is more than skin deep. It’s more than just the physical. Beauty is timeless, defies the boundaries of culture. We want to prove to kids around the world that they are worth it.” I think that this is something that we all should strive for. Too many people hold negative views against themselves and there is no reason for it.
The group wants everyone to share an image, their story, or their idea of what beauty is to them. So, what is beauty to you?
