So I am happy to say that I finished the first draft of my book! It turns out the author’s advice I’ve looked for of just sitting down and writing is the best advice I could have received. For about nine days, I sat down for eight hours and just wrote. If it was bad, it was bad and I would delete it. If it was good, I’d praise myself and keep going. I think that is important to remember, you cannot be too hard on your self. There is a fine line between constructive criticism and just being mean, you have to make yourself feel good in order to produce good.
One thing I realized that is very important while writing too is to always add to your vocabulary. The words you choose are crucial. Haven’t you ever come across a word when you were reading something that made you pause and think. Have you ever had a work you liked more than others? Words matter. They can be powerful and moving. As an author/writer, you have the power to pick and choose words. The problem is: there are millions! My mom bought me a book of 3,000 words everyone should know. I started reading it today and made instant changes to my book with the new words I’ve learned.
Whether you are a writer or not, increase your vocabulary! Nothing is as impressive as a person with good charisma!
