Five Guys

Nope, not the burger chain but the five slide guy picks for Week 3’s design 10 stars challenge in DS106/Magic MacGuffin.

Yeah, I know I’m a week late with this but late doesn’t mean it ain’t done, just that I’m late with it. Week 4 steps it up with another 10-star design challenge and adds some special elements. That will be another post entirely.

What is the 10-star challenge? The idea is to surf the DS106 Assignment Repository where project difficulty is rated on a scale of 0 to 5 stars. The challenge is to locate 10 stars worth of design assignments and complete them. I chose the option of five 2-star projects because, like Camp Director Martha, I was fascinated with this Slide Guy assignment.

So, it took me more than a week to get my ideas and the time together to put up five different Slide Guy images. I hope the project is worth the wait. I tried to take some pictures from different aspects of my life and add in Slide Guy to make this design assignment have a more personal story to each image.

Slide Guy in the Bean Bag Room. On campus we have this flexible
space in our Research and Information Commons. Students move pillows,
sleep, study, etc in this area. I added Slide Guy to give him more of a
Daemen College experience.

Okay, this is a toughie. Slide Guy is riding the creamy waves of yogurt making with my daughter
Olivia working the funnel. I’d like to think he enjoyed the warm, smooth ride to the bottom of
the jar and then was encapsulated in a delicious carbonite-like yogurt status chamber.

Slide Guy is riding the slide to an injury in this one. I took this photo of The Queen Mary’s First Class pool area on a
paranormal tour of the ship while attending the eLearning2012 conference in LA this past February. Enjoy the ride buddy but watch out for those spirits lest you become one.

Four Slide Guys and Roof. I took the photo as part of a Digital Story Slam conducted in Spring 2012, Geo-Tales of Bike Commuting. The house is an example of other green/self sustaining initiatives in my neighborhood.

Mmmmm, Syrupy Slide Guy. This was one picture from a Brinner Party I hosted recently. Yep, a waffle bar was part of the yumminess. Jealous? You should be; it was delicious. Slide Guy is riding some Boysenberry goodness here.
