Pre-Production Thoughts and Ideas

The assignment:

…identify two video assignments that appear interesting to you, and just do the set up work that will enable you to complete the assignments next week. DO not start editing, just identify and assemble the media you think you will need.

the two assignments that look the most interesting to me are

Return to the Silent Era: Select a trailer or movie segment you can use for this assignment.  Outline the things you can add to make it more like silent movie style, or write the text you will use on the screens that display dialogue.

&

Vintage Educational Video Assignment: Identify an educational video you could use to create your own; create a script and set of media needs to complete  the assignment.

For the “Return to the Silent Era” assignment I’m thinking I could do a piece from Goonies, or maybe Bridesmaids.

  • Goonies

  • The scene where Brand steals Data’s little sister’s bike and heads off to find the rest of the goonies gang
  • Cut the bike riding scene up into little chuncks
  • Add dialogue boxes that describe the emotion, and any dialogue
  • Add music to give it the Silent Movie feel we are so accustomed to, something that will add to the story
  • Distress the movie and make it look much older
  • Bridesmaids

  • The scene in the dress shop
  • Cut each reaction the ladies have to lunch into smaller pieces
  • Add dialogue boxes that describe the emotion, and any dialogue
  • Add music to give it the Silent Movie feel we are so accustomed to, something that will add to the story
  • Distress the movie and make it look much older

For the “Vintage Educational Video” assignment I’m thinking maybe a lesson in

  • Taking an online class
  • Installing an app on an iPhone
  • Ordering a drink at Starbucks
  • Being pleasant when using a service (to a server, a cashier, a house painter)
  • Saying Thank YOU.
  • Making Eye Contact
  • Social Media Do’s and Don’ts

Okay, if it wasn’t clear SOME of these are pet peeves of mine.

I’ve written down a few ideas, sketched a bit, but don’t want to be pigeon holed on one of these ideas if some other AHHHMAZING inspiration comes may way.  And well, that’s just not the way of ds106, so I fear not.

Think of this as a Work In Progress.
