Exploring a Great Movie Scene

To find more information on Anchorman: The Legend of Ron Burgundy, I searched Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia.  I found a page with extended details on the film, including production, reception, and release information.  Did you know that Anchorman, which was set in 1970s San Diego, included many modern shots of the cities downtown that weren’t yet built in that era?  Also,  the movie was rated PG-13 in theatres, so there are 4 additional minutes worth of scenes that are shown in the unrated version of the film.  Something which may be interesting to note to us ds106‘ers, is that Robert Ebert himself gave Anchorman 3 out of 4 stars and said “Most of the time…Anchorman works, and a lot of the time it’s very funny!”

I believe Anchorman to fall under the genre of comedy, due to its silly and hilarious nature.  The purpose of the film is to make the audience laugh! I found support for my decision by looking under IMDB‘s comedy genre.  Anchorman is listed as their #81 most popular comedy feature film.  Another film in the comedy genre is Ted.

On YouTube, I found 2 more clips from the film. One about sex panther cologne and another on Ron asking Veronica on a date.  I downloaded the two clips using KeepVid, where they were saved to my iTunes.  I then opened MPEG Streamclip and the files.  I already knew how to trim videos in MPEG, so I chose the minutes I wanted to use and saved them separately.  I followed the tutorial for using MPEG Streamclip, but the screen aspect ratio’s didn’t match up.  I looked for answers on why changing them wasn’t working, but couldn’t find any!  Hopefully I’ll be able to find an answer before getting into more serious video editing.  I exported the new clip as an MP4 and uploaded it to YouTube.  It’s pretty rough, but hey, that’s the point right? I’m just learning how to edit videos!
