For the end of the semester we had to come up with two possible ideas for assignments for future ds106 students.  Here are the two that I came up with:

1. A Changing Character (Remix)-

When going though the remix assignments I found myself wishing that there were more options than there were.  Because of this I decided that one of my assignments that I was going to make up had to be a remix assignment.  While there were ideas similar to this, there wasn’t this idea so I knew I had to go with it.  For my assignment I decided that I would have participants create a remix of a character over a course of time.  They could pick any character (however TV characters from a show that has been on air for a while will probably be the easiest) and use clips of videos to show how they have grown up over a certain about of time.  This can be done in any video editing program as long as they are able to show the character growing up.

2. My Favorite Lyric (Visual)-

Earlier in the semester I was working on a design assignment and got carried away with making it too much my own.  I ended up redoing the assignment and never using it for anything.  I decided now that I was going to use this assignment as one of the two I had to create.  I loved making this and found it a lot of fun so I was hoping that future ds106 students would feel the same way about it. For this assignment you are to pick a lyric of a favorite song and make a visual representation of it.  You need to include a background picture that somehow relates to the picture and include the lyrics.  The rest is up to you as long as the visual has the same feeling at the lyrics of the song do.
