This is the last week of DS106 before our final project is due.  Crazy how fast all of this flew by.

Whats a remix?  Check it out here!

  • Time for vacation at the Hockey Hall of Fame!

  • It was interesting to go through other people’s recycled pieces and making a digital story of my own.  I went through and found ones I liked first then tried to create a story out of them.  Using Movie Maker, recycled goods, and some additions of y own I was able to produce something I am so what proud of.  It involved a variety of mediums I have learned about over the Spring semester.
  • Remixing a “Post-Photographic Portrait” was quite a challenge.  It took me a while to understand what I was supposed to do.  I am still not completely sure that I did what they wanted.  I went and found some of the pictures and made a story out of them after looking at some of the authors books.  I decided not to mess with the picture itself, but to put them together and tell a poetic story.  I added music and text to the images to accomplish this.  I like what I was able to come up with.  I think my story takes thought from the viewer to understand, but at the same time is not difficult to get.  The man in the picture is a man of many faces (literally), but surrounding him is a world of books both happy and sad.  It is a source of chaos and fun.
  • From the ds106 Remix Generator I chose a visual assignment because they have been my favorite to produce.  I chose each part with thought and effort.  I am not 100% satisfied with what I came up with, but I loved the process and idea behind the specific assignment I completed as well as the Remix Generator as a whole.   Let me know what you think!
  • I completed 6 stars worth of assignments this week along with the other assignments we had to do.  4 stars came from Actor Transformation and the other 2 stars came from Mashup Those Movies.
  • I had fun with the Actor one because I was able to go through years of one actresses film production and how they have changed as a professional and as a person.  Lindsay Lohan has a much bigger story than this mashup shows, but it was nice to look at some of the movies I have seen and put them together into one “life”.  The mashup was more of a visual assignment than aduio like most of the others.  I took the movie posters of Jaws and The Hunger Games and put the two together into a humor poster of its own.  I liked the irony and pun I was able to create.

All of this can be found on my blog Owlbereading!  and then more on the blog!

  • This week I learned about a variety of ways to remix and mashup medias.  Some were from scratch, others were a twist on a previous assignment, and one was layed out for us.  I found that doing the assignments in the order they were presented was the best way to go, especially for these two weeks.  Each project/assignment built up to and introduced things that were helpful for completing the next assignment.  So of my finally products were not what I wanted while others went beyond what I thought I could do.  I learned what programs work best for me and in using them I learned more about how to use them and what they can do.  Some of the remixes and mashups had copyright speculations so I learned what and how to do something about it when that happens.  I had fun making these, but I was also stressed out know what is to come not only in this class but in all of my other ones too.
