The Rose Within the Gem

While the Fandom Princess and the Prince were out for a light summer stroll during the Princess’ third year at Mercury, she accidently tripped on the trail to town. The Prince gasped and instantly kneeled next to her.

“My darling,” he said, concern lacing his voice. “Are you alright? Are you hurt?”

The Princess, much to the Prince’s horror, began to giggle. “I’m quite alright, William. But I’d like to find out what exactly I tripped on.”

The Prince helped her up and she brushed the little bit of dirt off of her dress without delay. Then the Princess looked behind her. She could not see what exactly she had tripped on, but it must have been large for her to completely have fallen because of it. She shrugged, and was about to take the Prince’s hand to continue walking to town when she saw a faint glow coming from the left side of the trail.

She walked towards the glow, which peaked from underneath a bushel of leaves. She pushed the leaves back and laid eyes on a huge green gem. It was scuffed on the sides but glowed profusely at the top. She picked up the stone and walked back to the Prince.

“I think this is what caused my fall,” she said. “And look!”

They both peered into the top of the stone, and to their delight, there was a tiny flower in the center of the stone that seemed to glitter and shine as the sun hit it directly.

“How odd,” the Prince said flabergasted.

“Shall we hold onto it?” the Princess asked. “Maybe someone dropped it on the way to town.”

“Good thinking, my darling,” The Prince replied and pressed a small kiss to the Princess’ forehead. They laced hands again and continued down the road to town, the gem safely held in the Princess’ free hand.

So, I definitely went backwards in terms of the order that I did all these assignments for this week, but no matter! This post is dedicated to exploring what exactly a remix is. It’s strange to think that there may be people out there who don’t know what a remix is, but I suppose it’s possible.

The first thing I think about when it comes to remixes is music, since I think that might be one of the most creative ways to take two forms of music and create something new from it. I liked the videos by Kirby Ferguson where he explored music and remixing (part 1). It was also cool to see the remix of the Disney characters put together to explore copyright. It was a little jumpy in some places, obviously, but it got the overall message of copyright issues across.

The way I saw it, remixing is basically taking different forms of media and simply mashing them together to create something new. Simple as that. I made a video staring my friend Candace where I explain my idea, and use a weird example, but I hope you all enjoy it!
