Our Interactive Video is Here and Make Print Alive – Augmented Reality!!

The assignment for next week is to Make Print Alive. Using the app Aurasma please take a book, or magazine, or series of images and create an augmented experience with at least 5 “Auras”. You may use images or video. Extra props for those of you who use images that you have remixed or made yourself!

Mashable has a good definition of augmented reality. I like to think of augmented reality as adding a layer to the world in real time. There are many uses this lends itself to. Museums are using it create nonlinear museum experiences as information and clues pops up and sends the viewer to another image. You can think of it like an interactive treasure hunt. The Guardian has an interesting article about how museums are using AR: Tell me a Story. I can imagine this also working well with a book or magazine. Or perhaps text is superimposed giving you more information, powerful statistics. Maybe live concerts can pop up from images … or “ghosts” that give us another opinion. But we can also use it to tell another story perhaps more of a media critique.

We looked at ad busters  in class – (The same people who brought you OWS) a magazine that has been doing culture jams or spoof ads for many years. It might be interesting to try to create some spoof ads.

Here is our Interactive Video!!!!!!!
