Prologue Summary

Kelly joins Twitter as suggested by Evan. Andrea‘s ex-husband files for sole custody of their children claiming she’s a drug addict. Evan loses his job as a software engineer. Initially it looks like he’s headed for a quick recovery when he gets an interview for a new job, but it doesn’t work out. Kelly rushes the completion of her book in hopes of solving the financial issues resulting from Evan’s unemployment, but it gets rejected by multiple publishers. Evan and Kelly’s money problems and his subsequent fascination with a mysterious house on their block causes a strain on their relationship. Andrea helps Kelly plan her wedding but she struggles with budget issues. Evan wants to incorporate the house down the street, but comes up empty when he tries to find out more about it. He visits the house, but gets no answer when he knocks, and prepares to enter despite Kelly’s objections.
