I took this picture on a hike on Mt. Rainier in Washington. We were on a section of the mountain that looks like it could be the face of the moon; completely barren and covered in rocks. This was in stark contrast to the flowery meadows that we had been hiking through the day before. When we happened to stop for lunch, I looked down and here was this simple flower growing out among the rocks. I loved the way the picture frames the delicate violet petals.
