Listening to a podcast by Teknoteacher today via EDUtalk radio, I learned that 2012 is the 100 year celebration of the birth of Alan Turing: the “father of computer science.” Sadly, I only have a vague awareness of Turing’s story. But I imagine there will be lots of information about his life and contribution to the field over the next 12 months.

I hadn’t intended to include his work in the Pioneers’ Vision section of the course. But it’s not too late to include him. In fact, based on what teknoteacher said in his podcast, I think it’s crucial that we learn more about who Mr. Turing was and what he did.

The only problem is that I don’t have any links and can’t find my bookmark for Ask Jeeves. I’d be grateful if a few CIS0835 students could do a little digging over the rest of the weekend and leave some useful URLs in the comments section of the post (it would probably be worth 3 extra-credit blue points for each of the first three commenters).
