Lesson Pie Chart for January 25, 2012

I hope you’ve had a chance to check out this awesome Minimalist Travel Poster based in movies. While reading through the nicely written process description, I noticed a link COLOURlovers site. It looks to be a potentially overwhelming resource. What I found most interesting and of immediate interest to me were the palettes.

Again, this is new material to me so I’m not sure I can explain technically what a palette is. My understanding is that it is a group of colors that are supposed to work well together. With the COLOURlovers site, it appears that users have compiled the palettes and given interesting names to some of the schemes. The hexadecimal code for each color is also included.

I used such such palette to put together today’s pie chart. What do you think? Do the colors work? I’m afraid I didn’t grab the name of the artist who put the colors together or the color names. This is something I should do – if only there were a little more time available.
