Playing with Plugins

I installed the four mandatory plugins (Akismet, Twitter Tools, JetPack, Subscribe to Comments), then got to work messing around with some others.  I figured an embedded gallery might be a useful way to display some of my daily creates, so my first extra plugin allows just that.  I installed a couple that I didn’t really care for, and eventually settled on FlAGallery because it was easy to use.  I then read through the first 10-ish pages of featured plugins to get an idea of what other types of plugins are out there.  Many are very specialized, which could be good if I encounter specific problems/needs down the road.  For the time being, though, I settled on Share & Follow, which seems like it could be extremely useful for DS106.  Right now I have following enabled, which provides links to my other DS106-relevant sites (Flickr, YoutTube, Twitter).  This seems like an easy way for students in DS106 to follow each other on all of the sites we use for class.  For now that’s all I’ve experimented with, but I’m looking forward to tinkering with others as the semester progresses.
