Where’s Waldo?

I decided to do the “Wait, Where’d That Guy Come From?” three-star assignment because I thought it was silly, and I like silly. I looked at the assignment a couple days ago, but couldn’t think of a good idea. And then today it just came to me. A DS106 vision, if you will. The example I looked at had random people in situations that they shouldn’t be in. In my vision, I remebered the “Where’s Waldo?” books that kept me entertained for hours (probably not actually that long, it just felt like a long time for kid-me). So I tried to translate that into real life. Here’s what I made.

Waldo’s at the mall!! The picture of the mall is Creative Commons via Flickr. Then I used Aviary to crop Waldo down and put him in the crowd. I tried to match his size with the people around him and make him look like just another passer-by. I think I did a fairly good job, considering my skill level at the moment!

Even though this might not be the most professional body of work, I’ve definitely improved since I first started using Aviary. With each assignment I feel like I improve a little more through practicing with different tools and just feeling more comfortable with the program.
