Love can bloom again

This affect I gave this rose given to me by the man who loves me, encompasses what it was like for me to open up again to the idea of love. Break-ups and watching other relationships fail gave me little hope that I would find real love for myself, so I stayed in the black and white background to all that a new relationship could offer.
I took this picture on the day before Valentine’s day when the bouquet arrived and zoomed in on the “happiest” looking rose because that was how I felt at the time. I wanted to tell a story with this photo and how I got to be the “bloomed red rose” from the black and white background only looking out at the beauty of love. I used picnik to create this “splash of color” effect and was very pleased with the results.
