This Design Assignment actually doubled as a mini History lesson for me. I always knew that I was born on Thanksgiving; my Mom had to miss turkey dinner to rush to the hospital! So when researching when Thanksgiving actually started being observed I was pretty surprised – I honestly thought it was made a holiday earlier in our history! Either way, it was cool finding other events that took place on November 26. Alice in Wonderland by Lewis Carroll was published, the first meteor was photographed and the first lion was exhibited in America! I even share a birthday with Tina Turner! I knew my birthday was a special day, but I never realized how many “firsts” fell on that date.
To complete this project, I actually used two different sites. To create the actual “Google” font in my name, I used a Google Font Generator and simply typed in the desired word. It worked really quickly and in a few steps! After I saved the word, in this case my name, I uploaded it onto Picnik . Luckily, once I pressed “Edit” and then the “Stickers” tab, there were already a bunch of Thanksgiving related pictures I could insert. The last step was just including the event that occurred on this day, which I did by clicking the “Text” tab. All done and just pressed “Save & Share.” Pretty simple – a creative way to represent your birthday! (2 STARS)
