kirby ferguson creates a four part series on how we view remixes.  These videos explored what it means to have originality, what it means to have a patent on an idea or form of art.  memes, larger idea circulating around building up to evolve into a distiguishable entity are what he proposes as the reality.  this is fascinating to me because as a scientist, this is very true. current notions are just the correct view of the predacesor.  as a child i struggled with the notion that all my ideas where taken from other places and ppl and things I’ve interacted with, what of mine was actually my original thought? i seriously wrestled with this.  but i would argue that memes exist and drive our thought, but we ourselves are memes, and from the chaos that this introduces , i think that an original combination, application is a powerful tool that we have,  I still don’t know where the line is drawn for what is actually original, I think were too close to our ideas to say , yes i created this,  i am the meme. this is my idea.
