Can you imagine coming up with the best idea that has ever been created in history and someone else get the recognition for it simply because you did not copyright your idea.  I don’t know about anyone else but it would drive me crazy to know that someone else took the glory for my genius (lol)!

I have to admit that prior to this course I had no idea what creative commons was or even how to copyright anything that I publish.  To be honest I never had a reason to do so since I never blogged or did a lot online.  With the growth of the technological age you can press one button in within a matter of seconds your work can be viewed by millions, now if this is a good or bad thing is a matter for a different discussion.

From doing research I came to find out that Creative Common is a non-profit organization that has copyright licenses available free of charge to the public to protect their work.  The licenses allow that the creator has the opportunity to list what rights they would like to reserve and which they wish to waive.  The information is printed in simple format allowing for easier explanation and understanding.

I think it is important to copyright my own work because I have seen so many times when people have had to make YouTube videos explaining how someone else is posting their videos on another site and it is unauthorized.  I would hate to log on one day and see my picture or a picture of my son that I have posted on someone else’s site.  (To be honest I just got a little angry thinking about it!!!!!) I realized that I need to copyright everything I post no matter how insignificant that I think that it might be because it may not matter today but it may matter tomorrow.

I found a few links helpful with my research that I have listed below:
