I was tasked with reviewing at least two of the references on the concepts and analyzing at least 3 examples. The following is my understanding of a remix.

Remix References

First I watched Everything is a Remix (Part 1). WOW!! I really loved this video… I’ll admit to watching it three times.. I just got more information out of it every time I re-watched it… HIPHOP! I probably should’ve done this assignment with it… haha. I didn’t realize the common remixes I come into contact with in every day life! SO AWESOME(: This video showed a lot of entertainment remixes. The video was entertaining as well as informative. In Part1, the video focused on the music industry… I loved the baseline over time view..  that Rapper’s delights then Goodtimes, Will Smith! Anyone can remix! It’s not hard.. it’s not even really an art-form. Zeppelin tended to take the sound not so much the lyrics and such. I liked the part showing/telling about knock offs and covers being legal remixing. Overall I am glad I watched this video!

Disney used to Explain Copyright!!

I loved this video on Disney explaining Copyright! WOW whomever put this together must have spent a lifetime working on it! It is absolutely amazing! what detail! What a great example of a REMIX!! haha It was a great way to give information!! Learned so much and probably will now remember it even more. (: “It’s that STUPID law…” HAHAHA I watching this one twice… so great(: I loved how it was separated into chapters also, so that maybe if you needed just one part of the video it is already broken down(: too clever!

Now the three examples I reviewed:

• Buffy vs Edward: Twilight Remixed – two different sources re-edited to be coherent story

WOW… If I didn’t know any better I would’ve thought this was just one movie… That was a great mash-up of Twilight and Buffy the Vampire Slayer! The dialogue lined up pretty much perfectly, with little to none error. I cannot believe someone sat down and figured out how to put both movies together in a cohesive manner… amazing! What effort and detail! I liked the ironic vampire vs vampire slayer detail…

• Odd Kid – lip sync and remix

Haha I have never seen this kid before. I think I am in love. He did awesome work on this mash-up. I loved how together it is. All the music and lyrics are in place(:

• Star Wars Call Me Maybe a remix/re-cut mash-up of Star Wars dialogue to tell a new tale

I LOVED THIS! I’ve watched it probably a dozen times! How much work to take each clip and sync it to the music… crazyyy. So much work and effort and such a beautiful piece!
