Video Prep

The two video assignments I chose to prepare for are Redub the audio and Sports Mashup.

To prepare for the 1st video assignment, redub the audio, I first chose a movie scene I wanted to put my own audio over.  I went through all the movies I have and chose She’s the Man, because it’s really funny so it would be easy to have fun with it.  I would take a more dramatic movie too seriously and I think I would have trouble voicing over the characters if it’s a very moving or climatic scene.  There were a lot of scenes I wanted to dub over, but I chose the gouda/cheese scene from the film.  I couldn’t find a good clip of it on YouTube, so I found the whole video online.

To prepare for the 2nd video assignment, I went through Bing and looked for (what I thought) were some pretty epic sports moments.  I found a soccer clip I’m going to use the end of with Rooney’s goal,  a great boxing knockout video I’m going to trim down, Gabby Douglas‘s floor routine from this past Olympics, the 2nd try from a video of rugby,  one the the clips from Shaun White snowboarding, parkour tricks by Damien Walters, a clip from the best MMA knockouts, and a clip of Red Bull‘s extreme sports.

I reviewed Kelsey Matthew‘s audio redub of A League of Their Own.  I thought it was a good idea, but the video was very blurry so it was hard to see the character’s at all.  This made it difficult to see if she matched up the audio or not, but based on what I could see, it didn’t go very well.  There could have been some more emphasis in what she was saying too.  Maybe she had a roommate and didn’t want to disturb her, but when I yell at someone, I’m yelling, not whispering. There weren’t any previous examples of the sports mash-up assignment, so I’m going to wing it and use my previous knowledge from ds106 to help me do this assignment.
