???Ā½
Second assignment time! This time it’s also about space (in fact, it’s in the same world). This time I’m creating a simple but detailed logoĀ for a fictional company. I decided to make the logo of a major company in the sci-fi world I mentioned in my last post. The company’s called Hypatia, named after the Greek astronomer/mathematician/philosopher. She was pretty much the first documentedĀ woman mathematician. Mary’s the one who came up with most of the stuff about the company and she chose the name.
Anyways, Hypatia is also considered by many to be the inventor of the astrolabe, which was an important tool used to navigate using the stars through much of history. As Hypatia was the inventor, and the company Hypatia is a space exploration contractor, I figured it’d make sense to put an astrolabe in the logo. I used an astrolabe quadrant as the image that I based the logo on. I ended up with this:
I went through several drafts of the logo that didn’t look too great before I got to this one. I’m notĀ 100% happy with it (I think it could use a better font), but I still think it turned out pretty well! I’ll have to go searching around to see if I can find a font that fits a bit better, and I might tweak the location of the text, but the logo itself looks pretty good.
As you might’ve picked up in my last pretty much every post, I use Inkscape a lot. As might be expected, I used Inkscape to make this. Oh, and the design of the astrolabe is inspired by this astrolabe quadrant:
This class is really getting me to make more art for my worldbuilding projects.
