Nobody really knows how we use Social Media, they think they do, but they really don’t know.Our friends constantly think we’re on Facebook. Our bosses think we’re always tweeting away at work. The Perfect Quarterback
For as long as I can remember I have never been good at finding a quote that goes along with a picture, but when I saw this assignment I thought I would challenge myself to find a perfect combo. In this picture Peyton Manning is conducted his offense to make the right play. Around the league Peyton is known for being one of the smartest quarterbacks, and that is what he is showing you in this picture.The quote that Brian Urlacher says about Peyton really describes this photo. Brian Urlacher is one of the best players in the league and knows how difficult it is to play against Peyton. What Brian is trying to say in his quote is Peyton is always two steps ahead of everyone else on the field. It's almost like Peyton sees the play happening before it happens. If you do happen to fool Peyton you better know it is not going to happen again.

One for One
Today I was inspired to go the day without shoes to raise awareness and money for Toms. Toms is a company that would match every pair of shoes purchased with a pair of new shoes given to a child in need. One for One. Today April 10, 2012 Jacksonville State University held a campus wide awareness down for One for One. This event consisted of walking around everywhere barefoot to obtain a better understanding of what children without a way to protect their feet have to endure on a daily basis. As the day of fun and festivities ended it was time for the long walk around University/Trusties Circle, barefoot of course. This is when the reality kicked in. With the asphalt almost unbearable and the rough rocks rubbing blisters on the balls of feet, it was a real challenge to make it to the finish line.This picture was inspired by today’s events. I used Photoshop.com (online version) to increase the contrast, brush the toenail polish glair, and made the blues really pop. I found this assignment exciting and what a great way to involve my experiences of today in my blog.

by Melonie April 10, 2012Below are pictures of the 3 things I will bring with me to stay on a deserted island for week. I would bring a tent because I most definitely will need shelter from the weather, bugs, and predators. The tent will provide shade from the sun and shelter from the rain. If it gets cold at night, the tent will help hold in heat. The tent will ,also, help keep bugs and animals out. I will bring water purify tablets, so I will be able to stay hydrated. It is convenient. The ocean is a, obvious, constant supply of water, and the tablets will purify it. I will bring a machete because it will be great for helping me catch food. It also will help me to clear a pathway for when I travel around the island. The machete will be a good weapon for me to use to protect myself.I enjoyed this assignment. It was hard to narrow down the three things I would bring with me to a deserted island. I’m the type the of person that , if I’m going out of town for only 2 days, would bring , at least, six outfits with me for just in case purposes and variety.

Greatest Hits CD
I chose to do my first DS106 on music and design. This project was actually a whole lot harder than it looks. I had to do a bit of researching and a lot of "musical research" which I enjoyed. My project is on The All-American Rejects, one of the more consistent bands of the decade. They are also one of the only 10 plus year bands without a greatest hits album to date. This project was a joy and I recommend it to everyone who enjoys music.

The All-American Rejects are a pop punk that was born in Stillwater, Oklahoma in 1999. The band was formed by bassist/lead vocals Tyson Ritter and guitarist/keyboard/programmer Nick Wheeler. The band later added guitarist Mike Kennerty and drummer Chris Gaylor to replace Tim Campbell as main band members. The bands clam-to-fame was in 2003 with the song “Swing, Swing.” The song was an international hit, and also was placed in other media outlets. The band released their breakout album after their self titled album. The album “Move Along” soon went gold showing the true potential of the band. After touring on Van's Warped Tour they released “When the World Comes Down” which derived from a lyric in the hit song Mona Lisa (When the World Comes Down.) The band also had similar success with the hit song being “Gives You Hell” being the anchor for the album. In late march TAAR released “Kids in the Street” which looks to have a promising future.
