I Am Number Three

For today’s Daily Shoot we had to take a picture based around the number 3. Not necessarily just the NUMBER, but three objects or three colors… anything relating to the number three. I just finished watching today’s video from Jim Groom and he kept saying that we need to be creative and the more we do the Daily Shoots the less pictures of doors in our house and all that we will have. He also said that the Daily Shoot shows our surroundings and what is happening to us in that day/moment. Well, per my usual Monday, I go to class and come home and basically sit on my website and do ds106 homework and some economics homework and catch up on TV… relatively boring stuff. (There is no one in Fred right now). So I thought about it and I was like… well I’m not going to go SEARCH for the number three, because that’s not the point of the assignment (I think). It wouldn’t be a real photo of what I was seeing if I purposefully went out somewhere and just found the number 3 and took a picture of it. So I was sitting in my roommates room (she has AC) and I looked up and there was the number three. As I looked at the scene I just kept thinking “well this isn’t very creative.”

So, I decided to make it creative. I snapped the picture and went on picnik.com to add some effects to it. I cooled down the temperature to make it more blue and added a little saturation. I also increased the contrast a little bit. I inverted the colors and everything became rather eccentric. I liked the way it looked much better already. The reason I didn’t put the number 3 in the middle of the picture was because I wanted to show everything else surrounding it, showing what was going on. I put it to the side and created a focal point around the number.. a small focal point. I increased the blurriness so that it’s obvious where the focal point is, but enough so you can still see what is going on. I think it turned out well and I really like it. Mostly because, contrary to Tim Owen’s beliefs, I’m not the most creative person so when I’m just playing around and something comes out looking rather creative, I’m proud of myself. So, here is today’s Daily Shoot:

Tres
