This weekend I was browsing through Wikipedia articles about ancient weapons, for a game-making project I am working on for fun, and I stumbled upon this:
It is an image of Athenian lead sling bullets from the 4th century BC. It has the symbol of Zeus on one side, and the inscription “take that!” in Greek on the other.
This amuses me greatly, so I thought I’d share it. I wonder if, two thousand years ago, that phrase had any of the sorts of humorous,Ā insincereĀ connotations it has today.
