For the Web Storytelling portion of DS106, we are tasked with taking a page on a well-known website of our choice, and modifying the content in it to tell a story. After all the fun with had in class on our trip to the moon, I thought it would be fun to create something with a science-fiction bent. A search on the interwebs revealed a rather nice source to work with: the BBC Special Reports. Each report explore a particular topic in-depth, and the format of the pages seems well-suited to the project. For example, the Chernobyl page could be a great resource if someone wanted to do a zombie apocalypse piece. For my project, however, I decided to use their report Exploring Mars.

The idea for the project will be an alternate reality, in which the mars rover finds advanced life on the red planet. Through the headlines and imagery, it will tell of strange readings and signs, first contact, tension, and beyond. Stay tuned.
