For my third visual assignment I decided to tackle the troll quotes. I found it rather amusing and pretty easy. Troll quoting is this : Description: The assignment is to take a photo, a quote from a different character than the one in the picture, and a name from a third character different from the other two, place the quote in the picture, and “sign” it with the third person’s name. The three characters are to be from three different, but similar in genre, series. It’s known as “troll quoting”. For an “official” definition, go here: http://knowyourmeme.com/memes/troll-quotes.
I first had to decide the three characters I wanted to incorporate into the picture. Once I did that, it was all about finding an appropriate picture with an appropriate quote. I Googled a picture of Dumbledore, saved it to my computer, and continued to search for a quote. Since Dumbledore is fighting, I thought a quote from Gandalf in Lord of the Rings would go well. Since there is a lot of fighting in Lord of the Rings I didn’t see any problems. I went to the IMDb page and looked through allllll of the quotes just from the third movie (it has the most fighting) and it was a longg list. Regardless, I was able to find a solid Gandalf quote that fit. The third part was the hardest.. trying to find someone who was similar to both Dumbledore AND Gandalf enough to give then credit for the quote. Then I remembered an old movie I saw forever ago called The Sword in the Stone. I quickly looked it up on IMDb and used Merlin as my third character.
After that, I just added a text box to the side of the picture and inserted the quote and Merlin’s name. I made it a kind of swirly font to make it seem more majestic. I like the way it turned out and I found this project really fun and funny. So, here is my third visual assignment, a troll quote:
