Fun with Firebug

Alright so let me start off this post by saying I really enjoyed this assignment despite the challenges that it presented to me. I never knew of the existence of firebug prior to this and I think there’s a lot of fun that you can have with it and it can prove to be very entertaining. That being said, this assignment was a bit of a pain in the ass, not because of the html and coding, that was very easy to figure out and firebug is very easy to use, but because CNN.com has a wonderfully infuriating auto refresh feature that caught me off guard. Though I had saved some of my work a majority of it I didn’t save as I was moving along quite well, I dealt with this little speed bump by downloading an add-on for Firefox that prevents auto refreshing on sites which proved to be the key for this project for me. Anyway, I decided that instead of making up my own news I would take a little bit of a different approach and took the headlines cnn.com and replaced them with the headlines on theonion.com. I thought it was a fun way to use firebug’s capabilities and a mildly satirical commentary on whether it is the news or the source. I changed a very large chunk of the CNN homepage but did leave some of their original headlines, feel free to look around and see if you can spot the difference.
