Tutorial: Comic Book Effect

This is a tutorial for the comic book effect visual assignment. For this assignment you had to take a picture of something and apply a comic book effect using photo editing software.

This assignment was simple if you have access to photo editing software. For this assignment I used Gimp. Gimp is free photo editing software which you can download from the internet. You can download it here.

I chose to use Gimp because it has a built in cartoon function.

In order to do apply the cartoon built in function in gimp, open up gimp. After gimp is open go to file, open, and select what image you would like to edit.

Once your image is in the program, go to filters, artistic, and pick the cartoon effect.

It’s that simple. This build in function will automatically edit your image so it possesses a comic book feel.
