Okay, this exercise was a lot of fun. The creativity from the assignments that we are doing is just mind-blowing in my opinion. I haven’t run across another course where the assignments have been this refreshingly fun.
Let’s start off with my Flickr photos. Rather than embed them and take up a ton of space, I’ll just link them.
I did this assignment at work actually. I work with a boy who has autism and I spend a good majority of my time there in their basement. His brother is the one in the Interesting Shadow and Someone’s Hand photo so that was neat that I had his help. He was more than willing to give me as many poses and pictures as possible so we probably spent a bit more time on it than we should have. Doing this assignment was a lot of fun though. The twenty minutes went by surprisingly fast and I actually found myself thinking a lot more about the photos that I took rather than taking the photos (if that makes sense). I guess the object of the assignment was to spend more time thinking about the photos that were being taken rather than just taking random photos which made it a bit more interesting.
I think the photo that took me the longest to take was the Odd Angle photo. I was debating between about ten different angles of photos before I wound up going with the picture of clock from above. Most of the time, people look at clocks from either eye level or are looking up at them. Rarely have I ever looked down at a clock. I found that to be the most interesting photo that I took and I hope that you would agree with me. The other photos that I took, I tried to make sure that I focused on color and making them look unique. For example, the two that don’t belong together, I went with blue and yellow as the primary colors which contract quite nicely. For the shadow photo, I made sure to have different lights on to have the effect of more than one shadow in the shadow.
On the Flickr Blitz page, I found the photos that had a unique aspect to be the most intriguing of the pictures that I looked at. The normal pictures were fine, but pictures like this one and this one were the types of photos that I found to be the most interesting. I like abstract photos; photos that make you think or give you that puzzled look at times.
All in all, I would say that I enjoyed Photoblitzing a lot. I’m going to suggest this activity to a couple of my friends who are really into photography. It’ll get them to think outside the box!
