Final reflection

I have to say when I first started this class, I wondered why it was called introduction to video. I thought we would have been using cameras. When I found out that we would be using photoshop, I wanted to start crying. That soon changed after I did my first assignment. I liked the way the assignments allowed us to use our own interpretation when it came to doing home work. No other class gives you this much freedom. Even though the class is called intro to video, I have to say I learned a lot more than just manipulating video. I learned how to manipulate sounds too which turned out to be a lot cooler than I thought. I also learned that there were many ways to tell a story. What I appreciated most about this class was that it was not strict in the sense that the objective was to tell the story and be creative about it. You were able to apply any programs which you thought could help you to complete your project. I remember using Microsoft Word to create playing cards. Something that I probably wouldn’t have thought of doing in my wildest dreams. I loved the concept of digital storytelling, I liked manipulating things to tell a story. Being in this class, actually helped me to decide on changing my major from journalism to communications technology (which wasn’t an easy decision because I walked away from a scholarship, but it’s cool). It also made me decide to stay here at York. I’m looking forward to learning more about using different softwares to create stuff.
