A dead thing, a dawn-dampened thing…

Daily Create prompt: Describe the sky in a single sentence without using any color words.

Response: Before the Rain

It is a dead thing, a dawn-dampened thing, it settles, sprawls, dark and heady, overwhelming, dreary and dreadful like a cemetery stone.

Writing this was fun. I love using imagery and trying to avoid the use of colour words was a neat trick. I also love oppressive, slate-grey skies, so kaboom.
