Radio Show Promo (Tombcast)

For the Radio Show Design Project, I had to create either a poster, bumper sticker, or logo that helped represent the radio show that my group was trying to capture. From what we’ve discussed through multiple emails, I concluded that we were going for a relaxing comedic show that talked about being in the West. I figured a way to grab the viewers’ attention was to make a poster that was able to make everything pop out to them.

In designing the poster, I tried to make it so that you could also use it as a logo if needed. I wanted to make a poster that was versatile enough where you could stick it anywhere as an advertisement for our ds106 radio show. The first thing I did when designing the poster was find a picture of an intimidating cowboy silhouette from google that I could use so that I could be able to color the background around him. Next, I imported the silhouette into the Sketchbook app on my computer and made to circles around the man. I colored in the two circles to create a more pronounced ring around the silhouette and filled in the background with a hot red color to help it pop out. Then I placed text that told the audience what the poster was sponsored by, by writing “ds106”; then I placed another text that told the audience what our radio show is called, by writing “Tombcast”. At that moment I had the idea that I should put crossing guns behind everything to make it more intimidating/ more distinguishing. So I found crossing gun silhouettes on Google and placed in the layer behind everything. Finally, as an added touch I filled in the background with orange because it made everything pop off the page and matched the warm color of the hot red.

Overall, I am very glad with the design I created and hope you enjoy it too as a promotion for the Tombcast Radio Show Project.
