INSPIRATION;

As an African immigrant to the United States, I have had a lot of experiences in my transitionĀ  to the U.S. At first there was the culture shock, which took me a while to recover. As a matter of fact, am still in the recovery process. All in all, my transition here has been great and although I am experiencing a new culture, I pride myself in originality and so I still love the things I used to love back home in Ghana. Food, clothing and most especially movies. I am an avid movie fan. If they are free you would definitely find me watching it. I chose this scene from a Nigerian movie I watched years ago called “Osuofia In London”. The long and short of it all is that the man you see in the image immigrated from the rural part of Nigeria to Great Britain for the very first time in his life. Upon arrival, he spots a yacht onĀ  River Thames in Central London and expresses his disbelief at seeing something so “magical”. He is so perplexed that he starts talking to himself and literally proclaims “Omg! what the hell is this?”Notice that he still has his luggage in his hand? This is because he just arrived to new country and has a huge mistrust for people. He is operating under the assumption that the moment he puts his bag down, it will be stolen. Although this scene and the concept behind it depicts naivety, we cal all agree that whenever you travel to a new country that is totally different from what you are used to, there is bound to be an “OMG! moment. I plan to post the tutorials for this soon.
