Although I am an English major, my concentration is Creative Writing, and as such, my heart belongs to more artistic and creative endeavors than long essays.  This is one reason why I am ecstatic to be able to follow those impulses for the final project in this class.

I was really inspired after reading “Words Made Flesh” by Florian Kramer.  I think that this, as well as a handful of other works that I read in my New Media classes, helped form the ultimate story I plan on telling.

The idea that words have power is dear to me. If I didn’t believe in the ability for words to change opinions, influence minds, or carry readers off to fantastic worlds, I would have left my pen behind years ago.

Thesis: Explore the idea that words have power beyond the paper, and–now that it is the digital age–beyond the screen.

Summary: In a post-apocalyptic world, a journalist in the year XXXX uncovers a religious cult obsessed with words, which leads her on an unexpected journey of discovery about the events that led the world to this state.
