2012 Goals

I haven’t updated in a while, mostly because I’m having a blog-identity crisis. I’m unsure of what I want to include on here. Originally, I idealized it as a place to post school work, but none of my courses have required an online presence. But since I like to be practical, and I paid good money to have this thing, I’ll be posting more of whatever I feel like until I get a handle on what I want from it.

Due to my boyfriend’s influence, who believes in New Year’s resolutions, I’ve concocted a handful of goals to complete before next January (or the Mayan apocalypse, whichever comes first).

Updated 2/1/2012

  1. Graduate from UMW
  2. Get a job
  3. Complete the Couch to 5K program
  4. Run a 5k
  5. Finish the first draft of a novel
  6. Miss no (more) classes

I also have a number of projects planned for this semester. One is creating a DS106 Mockumentary, which is already in progress, and may even become an official research project recognized by the university. The second is a nonfiction storytelling project I’m calling “Great Minds, Great Stories,” in which I interview members of the UMW community

and gather the experiences they’ve had as a result of their association. I’m interviewing my parents this weekend as a test-run of equipment, interview technique, and also simply because I want to create a family database of stories, too.

I think all of my resolutions are reasonable, except perhaps running a 5K. That might happen next year rather than this one. My school-related goals are more ambitious, but I will work to the best of my ability to see them come to fruition.
