This post is for Ds106 in class group assignment: contributors: Calvin Barnard, Michael Dickerson, Elizabeth Paredes, Gregory Weeks, and Stacy Hietala.

First assignment: Mini Daily Shoot: You must take photos to fulfill five photo prompts (provided on cards). When you are done, you must construct a meaningful narrative around the photos you’ve taken. You may wish to consider your narrative beforehand and stage your photos accordingly.

The 5 original photo-prompts:

-Reaching up, reaching for, reaching out, or reaching in. Shows the action of reaching in photograph today.

-Make a photograph dominated by horizontal lines or compositional elements that go all the way across the frame.

-Graffiti is unwanted by many, but can be visually interesting. Finding visual interest in something you don’t like today.

-Illustrate the act or emotion of tension in a photograph today.

-Blue suede, hiking sneakers, and pumps. If only shoes could talk. Tell their story in a photo, either on or off someone.

Second Assignment: Tableaux Vivants: I will provide you with a print of two classic photographs or painting. Using your group members and campus settings, recreate the images as accurately as possible. Play with the notion of staging classic visuals in the modern setting of UMW’s campus. Think about challenging the classic narrative being told, and tell a new story or a story with a twist.
