    Mockery

    by
Denver is an exploding city, and two things are coming out of it: micro-breweries and Uber drivers. During my own stretch as an Uber driver, I had the privilege of discovering a place called Mockery Brewing in the River North Art District, more commonly called RiNo, where I took some passengers one night. Earlier this […]

Something that matters. Start. Do it.

    by
Even this video was released in 2009, six years ago, it is still very inspiring to watch. On TED's website, Seth Godin's The Tribes We Lead video has over 1,589,065 views. Apparently, I am not the only one is amazed by his innovative speech. At the end of his presentation, Seth Godin said," I would like everyone to start a movement, something that matters. Start. Do it.We need it." I instantly thought about the PLN (personal learning network) project which I am working on for the course

Tagxedo–an innovative way to get students excited

    by
I was first introduced to Tagxedo while I was browsing the posts from my Google plus group.I was quite excited about all the possibilities to use Tagxedo.  Here in fact, I found a link on 101 Ways to Use Tagxedo. So I thought I'd check out "Tagxedo" to see whether I could design anything fun, interactive for them to start reviewing with.  As it turned out, yes!  Students loved it! One warning for all Mac users, you will need to download current "silver lights" first before you go on, otherwise,

    Using Pinterest for Job Searching

    by
A piece of advice we give job seekers at the workforce center is to tell everyone you know you are looking for work. We encourage this because it’s all part of networking, you never know who might be listening or even who has a friend who’s hiring! Broadcasting your unemployment status might be one of the hardest things someone does. Usually, in fact, people who are unemployed would rather not tell anyone they are unemployed. It is one of the hardest circumstances people can find themselves in.

    Blogging about blogging.

    by
I’m new to this whole blogging gig but I have a ton of thoughts and grad school is keeping me pretty busy with extra reading and thought provoking projects and papers. With all of this info swirling around in my brain I really need to get real about blogging and organizing my thoughts. I found this quick infographic on blogging, “Eight Secrets to Writing Faster Blog Posts” you can click on it here. I find these infographics to be especially helpful. They usually have quick facts and pictures and

    Finding my tribe.

    by
A few months ago my mom posted a picture of herself surrounded by her siblings on Facebook with a simple caption: Tribe. I thought that was cute and I moved on. This week in my class, Social Media and Digital Culture we did some readings on “Tribes” and that picture came back to me. A tribe can, of course, have some pretty broad definitions but for this purpose let’s just say it’s a group of like-minded people you surround yourself with. For my mom it was being with her siblings, for me? I’m not

    Color Me Crazy

    by
If you drive north up Larimer Street in Denver, away from downtown, the sounds of the city eventually start to fade, and the sharp corners of gleaming office towers are exchanged for brick walls streaked with matte, expressive murals. Here lives a culture of paint and color that you can’t find in downtown. The best […]

    Pinterest!

    by
Pinterest is by far my favorite social media platform. I use it all the time to share/save ideas, recipes, quotes, and books I want to read. Just recently though, I was reading an article for school and saw the "Pin It" button on the article. I didn't ...
