Assignment 2: Experimenting with the blog

WordPress offers many cool plugins to go with the blog. I had already subscribed to the comments plugin. It was very simple and only took a couple of seconds. Then, I installed the Akismet. I thought it would be difficult to figure out how to do it, but it actually wasn’t hard at all. The directions were very clear. Here are directions I followed to install this plugin! Go to the Akismet plugin page in your dashboard and you will notice it says to add your API key. Click “Get your key” and that will direct you to another site where you will click the blue button that says “Get an API key”. The following page looked like this: (Click image to enlarge)
Click on single domain and check “is for my personal blog”

The next page is just where you fill out your information.

The next page will ask for your email address and check your email for your API Code. Enter that by going back to the WordPress plugin page to Akismet.

Update your options and then click on “Click here to confirm Akismet is up” which is located near the bottom of the page. You are done then!

I also added the the Twitter tools to my account. Hopefully it works after I post this blog! Also, I installed the Google Analytics plugin. It seems very cool! I’m still figuring out the different options I have but it looks very useful! Installing the plugins were not that difficult once you get the hang of it!
