Video Essay Assignment

So, as I’m sure everyone else found out, this assignment was loads of fun.  It was an absolute pain in the ass to set up and figure everything out.  First I downloaded my video clips from YouTube, but I didn’t realize you had to change the format, so all my clips saved as mp3′s, and I had to go back and re-download them.  Then, i had to convert them….I tried three times, and it failed every time.  I used the same software on Sam’s laptop (also a MacBook) and it worked like a pro on the first attempt.

Then, I got everything into IMovie and started rearranging, clipping, and editing.  I found some cool tools to insert little blocks of text, so I added a bunch of those in just for kicks.  The audio was also a pain, trying to get everything lined up and clipped properly.

Here’s a link to my video on YouTube http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aP2EeXWLQe8.  I like it, and I think for it being my first time EVER doing this, it came out pretty good.  That’s what I love about this course, and these assignments, is that they don’t have to be perfect, they are meant for an introduction to each of these mediums and tool.  I’m sure I will be able to use these in the future for work, school, and personal enjoyment, like making videos for my car and stuff like that.
