CHOAM Invoice (Design Assignment 3)

I put this entirely together in LibreOffice, using tables, frames and so on to achieve the invoice look. I modeled it after a template I found here, though since the file is a gif, I couldn’t actually use it. It was irritating that there was a lack of good templates for OpenOffice.org/LibreOffice, but no matter. I put together the CHOAM logo in the GIMP using a description from the book and embellishing a little. Lots of concentric circles.

Okay, explanation: This is from Frank Herbert’s Dune. CHOAM, which stands for Combine Honnete Ober Advancer Mercantiles, is basically the company in the Imperium, which is like feudal Europe meets the Middle East. CHOAM does everything, and all the Great Houses (including the imperial House) have stakes in it. So naturally, there are transactions to be made. Anything else you’ll have to read and find out.

The font in the company logo is Orthodox Herbertarian (if you’ve seen the older versions of the books, this is the font the title is in). I downloaded and installed it, and much thanks to the author – whoever he may be – and the guy who redid it for the Internet.
