I have an independent study to be doing

No, seriously, I’m supposed to be building up the sets of natural numbers, integers, rational numbers, real numbers and complex numbers – and all the operations thereupon – from a few axioms. But I’m not. It’s terribly interesting, don’t get me wrong. But I’m restless this morning and I can’t concentrate on them. I’ve been restless these past few weeks and that’s why I’m behind.

Instead I’m reading this: Why every maker should learn Chinese. I had an idea that this was where things were going when I started taking Chinese at UMW. And now that I’ve taken a year off I’ve forgotten almost all my Chinese. And once these classes – DS106, my independent study – are over, I’ll have about four weeks – three if you don’t count my week in New Orleans (which I probably shouldn’t) – to relearn everything to prep for Chinese 201 again. I wish I had someone to speak to.

I wish I knew what A was up to. Is Singapore still on? They speak Mandarin there.

It’s lonely out here in the tubes.
