The ‘Crow’ in ‘Yokrow’

Being that my online identity, username,  -everything has become ‘Yokrow’ (an infusion between my nickname ‘Yoko’ and ‘Crow’ on the count of there were a lot of crows where I used to live) I had only recently decided that with my ‘debut’ on youtube and the many changes I’ve decided to make with my internet usage, I should have an icon that I can be known by.

This is the very first design I created; something simple.

The steps to this were quite easy. I occasionally do digital art and so using my tablet, and art program (paint tool sai) I referenced an average picture of a crow and drew it onto my artboard in Sai.

Of course I want to keep the image as simple as possible so i coloured the bird in flats. In fact all I ded was draw the outline using thick gray, and used the selection tool, and paint bucket tool to fill in the charcoal-like colour.

There is a moderately/barely visible darker gray to signify the most prominent areas of shading, but the colour can’t really be noticed unless you look for it i.e. around the wing, and the colouring for the eye.

This was a simple drawing that took no more than five minutes, and in the end I liked it. Of course I will have to create other variations because this isn’t exactly what I’m looking for.
