Weekly Media Response:
Robert Hughes, for me, outlines the importance of art in regular day to day objects. The importance of creating things that we interact with, in a manner of feeling, so as to make the object closer to you as a being and aide in connecting to object emotionally to what you are. Art is not just a painting but so much more. It can be the design of a cup that you drink out of or the website you interact with on a daily basis.
I agree with Steven Johnson in the sense that good ideas and innovation are formed over periods of time. Creativity and the ability to share thoughts and ideas have led us to what I believe to be the Knowledge Revolution, with are increased connectivity and networking ideas and creativity are being shared at an alarming speed. With all of the information you could ever need at your fingertips, the ability for us to create new and better ideas is limitless.
The rules are Great!! I believe everyone should challenge each other to bring more to the table whether it is teaching or learning, we can always strive for more.
Summary:
DS 106 so far has been a wonderful learning experience. The programs and accounts we were signed up for have some cool features that I can’t wait to explore. Once I finally got my website and word press working, I spent several hours just fooling around (sometimes being the fool)in the settings and themes. From my meandering, I could tell this class is going to be challenging, but an amazing learning experience. My first daily create did not give me too much trouble, as I was familiar with my webcam and how to upload to YouTube. I made an attempt at drawing my shoe in two colors but decided it wasn’t worth sharing! Looking forward to finishing out Boot Camp strong!
