Final Project Planning

Okay, so I really like SNL. Obsessed is a better description. So, I do my own voices too. This involves character creation. One of my voices is a gravelly one, similar to Roz in Monsters Inc. The voice is actually inspired by a real-life woman I will call Aunt Judy in Rhode Island (I changed names to protect the innocent). She is a colorful character to say the least. Spicy, opinionated, salty, and boisterous are all words that describe her. Judy attends Republican caucuses all the time. She runs for office almost every election. She has even made a ‘tea party hat’ which she has tea bags hanging, forming a sort of veil. Yeah, needless to say, she’s comedic gold.

My first encounter with Aunt Judy was living in Rhode Island. It was my freshman year of college and I couldn’t afford to go home for Thanksgiving, so some family friends let me celebrate with them. I was welcomed into the family Thanksgiving and as luck would have it, seated by Aunt Judy herself. Judy is a huge Sarah Palin fan and over the course of dinner, the first thing she said was “Grandma, aren’t you glad we turned back and got your teeth?”. Luckily, the family friends are really nice people and didn’t mind me poking a little fun at Aunt Judy. We almost peed our pants that night just everyone trying to do her voice (after we left the gathering). I have since been told a lot of other stories about Aunt Judy and each one makes me love her even more.

My projects:

One Story/Four Icons-I hope to portray a story of Judy running for office. This will be filled with scandal and of course, have some sort of comedic twist. In order to give her story direction, I hope to incorporate this assignment

This assignment: This will coincide with Judy’s election run. She will have also timed her autobiography release during that window in order to hopefully increase votes. However, it’s not what the voters are actually expecting.

I hope to introduce Judy by using this assignment. I think it will work, as long as I put serious time into being concise, which is something I struggle with.

To really connect with the election/campaign- I want to use the sound effects story. I think it will be a really good way to engulf the listener with campaign sounds.

Ok, so this assignment is a self documentary. I plan on turning it into an E! True Hollywood story type deal or a commercial introducing Judy to voters.

Judy’s first campaign scare comes through a tweet that she didn’t actually mean to send out (it was supposed to be a text). In order to let everyone see it, I will use the “what they might have done in social media” assignment.

This is what inspired Judy to be a politician. Yes, classic movies dealing with campaigns. I have to work on the list, and maybe use some West Wing or other TV shows.

Finally, if necessary, I will use this assignment to do a radio call in situation, where Judy is asked all kinds of questions by radio personalities.
